Remember that costumes must be paid for by this Thursday, December 18, in order to guarantee March delivery.

Costumes, costumes, costumes!

It's that time of year again! Yes, it's almost Thanksgiving, and Christmas is right around the corner, but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about something really important. It's time to think about the costumes for our June concert. June 6 is the date for our 2009 concert, and while I know that seems like it's a long way away, it's really right around the corner.
I know that the price of everything has gone up, but I have worked very hard to keep the cost of the costumes as low as possible. All payments for costumes are due no later than December 18. You may pay for your costumes anytime between now and then. This will allow plenty of time for delivery in April. If you have more than one child, or if your children are in more than one class, this will allow you to make payments. Any costumes that have not been paid for by December 18 will be ordered at a later date with a separate shipping and handling charge. Those costumes will also not be guaranteed to arrive in time for pictures in May.
Finally, some items on the costume list are marked "not included." These items are your responsibility. I will only order items marked "included." Students should already have the proper shoes, but they may need to be cleaned or polished before the concert.

Ballroom dance classes
Ever wanted to swirl around the floor like Fred and Ginger? Well, now is the time to give it a try! Beginning ballroom classes have begun on Thursday evenings at 7:45 PM. Newcomers are welcome. The cost is $32.00 per person/$59.00 per couple.
October update!
We are now in the eighth(!) week of classes, so it's time to let you know what is new at the studio. Things are starting to settle down. Please remember that the first week of each month is visitation week. Parents may bring a chair and observe what we have been learning during class.
The first week of each month is also when tuition payments are due. We really enjoy teaching dance classes, but it is still the way we make our living. Breanne Carter has been hired to help with book keeping. She does not know all of the students, so it would be a great help if you would write the student's name and what the payment is for (tuition, shoes, etc.) in the memo line of your check.
It's getting dark earlier, so please come into the studio with your child when dropping off or picking up. Let's keep our children safe.
We are already working on what song each group will be performing at the spring concert. After the song is selected we choose their costume. Costume selection should be completed by the first part of November. Costuem prices are going up, just like everything else, but we search high and low for the best price. You should plan on spending somewhere between $45.00-$50.00 per costume.

Upcoming events
Once a month we will try to bring in some new teachers, new ideas, and new styles of dance to introduce to the students. These are not weekly classes, just one-time events. There will signs at the studio and we will also be posting these events on the blog and e-mailing them to you. We ask that students sign up in advance so that we know about how many to expect.
MASTER CLASS
On October 25th, we will hold a special master class and costume party for students ages 3-7. There will be games, races, prizes, balloon animals, snacks, and, of course, lots of fun and dancing. Students may bring a friend who is not already enrolled at the dance studio. They should wear the costume of their choice and we'll do the rest.
The cost for this master class and party is $10.00. Please sign up and pay in advance at the desk. Sorry parents, the fun is just for the kids.

A Quick Update

Our first full-length newsletter will be out around the first of October. It will be posted here, students will get a paper copy, and if you gave me your e-mail address you will also receive a copy via e-mail. If you want to receive the e-mail update but forgot to give me your e-mail address, please write it down for me the next time you're at the studio.
Keep dancing!
Janelle
